The Melodrama Database Project (MDP) is an international, collaborative effort to construct a comprehensive, open-platform database of global stage, film, television, and new media melodrama. Its purpose is to establish an accurate record of melodrama’s global history and to provide a crucial research platform for broad-based interdisciplinary and comparative research.

The MDP has formed working groups and organizational committees and is now working to coordinate data contribution and collection from participating members of the data collection network.
